DESCRIPTION:On the fourth Wednesday of every month Jennifer Brand hosts free Classroom Trades. What are classroom trades? One massage therapist performs a full 60-minute massage on another massage therapist in front of other LMTs and students in a classroom environment. It helps massage therapists receive proper massage maintenance\, encourages comradery and friendship\, and provides our peers the opportunity to observe how other practitioners perform massage. \nClassroom Trade Materials\n\nThis classroom experience may focus on an array of classroom trade topics. For further reading material related to this content please explore any of the following links: \n\nBecome a Lantern Bearer\n\nThe next generation of licensed massage therapists need our guidance. They need to be encouraged\, inspired\, and mentored. We need to cultivate them\, show them the pitfalls of the path\, and offer them a hand when they feel too weak to stand. Our industry needs lantern bearers\, experienced professionals available to help our peers when they are lost and in the dark. \nA career in massage therapy can be beautiful. With the right guidance we can encourage the caring souls of our industry to achieve the career of their dreams\, to practice safely\, purposefully\, and peacefully. \nDoing this alone feels impossible\, especially with our busy schedules\, but we can make it happen as a community. We can work together as LMTs to create consortiums and a culture that returns our profession back into the hands of the practitioners. We can improve career longevity\, reduce injury\, burnout\, and improve the public’s perception of massage. \nI love our profession with my entire heart\, and it hurts my spirit every time I see another therapist struggle or suffer in the service of others. DESCRIPTION:HERE IT IS!!!! 16 CE’s \nMUST be an LMT to attend \nManual Lymphatic Drainage is mimicking the entire lymphatic system to wake it up\, redirect lymph fluids\, aid as an analgesic and help with reabsorption after a major trauma (liposuction\, etc). This course is NOT instruction on pushing fluid (squeeze massage) from drain holes as seen on recent youtube videos etc. However\, this does involve patients with/without drains and potential work requiring proper PPE. There are hands-on labs for Tx sequencing and positions according to specific surgery. In the lecture\, we will also address anatomy\, vocab\, stages of recovery and swelling/tissue changes per stage\, garment wear\, state laws/reg’s\,  documentation\, marketing\, Plus so much more!!! \nThis course is being offered to instruct individuals on proper Lymphatic drainage techniques. \nMasks are not required but may be worn at personal discretion. The requirements of masks and such policies are solely at the discretion of the owner of this course and the venue. \nPlease take note that all courses are fully refundable if canceled and the owner notified 2 weeks before the date of the course. If canceled with less than 2 weeks’ notice only 60%  of the original purchase price will be refunded. All refunds are at the discretion of the owner providing this service. It is the process of performing a massage while seated. Simple right? Unfortunately\, our industry looks down on those who sit throughout their sessions. Many see this method as lazy and disrespectful to the art. The reality is we need to use what works.  In an era when massage therapists are washing out of the industry in a rapid rate\, we need to discover ways to save as many careers as we can. \nThe Virtues of Massage: Creative expression requires the spark of imagination.  It is an energy that pushes your pen against the paper to manifest the images of your mind’s eye.  Art may be created without instruction\, education\, or guidance\, but some require training\, practice\, and support.  Massage is similar.  Some may possess the natural aptitude to provide an amazing massage experience\, but most need guidance. This article explores these factors and will help you overcome them. \nAmbient Awareness: Ambient Awareness is a massage modality\, philosophy\, and guide to create\, enforce\, and maintain effective personal boundaries.  The terms used are symbolic gestures to encourage the practitioner to explore how they interpret reality\, to achieve harmony\, and live a rewarding life.  In massage we can only give what we have.  If all we possess is bitterness it is all we can offer.  We must invest in hope\, happiness\, and peace if we seek to instill the same in others. \nDeep Tissue Massage: What is the underlying philosophy of our Deep Tissue Massage? It is the application of pressure with the intent of releasing tension in deeper muscles structures. This is accomplished through the slow\, methodical and deliberate application of pressure and techniques to encourage greater range of motion and reduce discomfort. Though the techniques are used on soft tissues the actual goal is to encourage the central nervous system to transform how it experiences touch and movement. The foundation of all Deep Tissue massages is rooted within the biopsychosocial model of pain management introduced by Dr. George Engel in 1977. \nSession Elements & Principles: Massage may be judged by various elements and principles that define a quality of touch in a massage session.  These categories are Harmony\, Story of Lines and Shapes\, and Materiality & Texture\, Value. SUMMARY:Fundamentals to Ashiatsu
DESCRIPTION:This class will teach you how to use your feet to provide a full body deep tissue\, myofascial release and trigger point work focused ashiatsu barefoot massage session. This class focuses on techniques applied on posterior aspects of the client’s body\, as your weight and natural gravitational forces are utilized to effortlessly maintain consistent pressure through your feet. While the work is focused primarily with the client prone\, therapists will learn supine work as well. \nFundamentals is the starting point for those wanting to train in the Myofascial Ashiatsu “FasciAshi” style of Barefoot Massage – although it’s a “beginner” class\, it is definitely not easy. Review your bony landmarks\, endangerment sites\, and muscle pathways – as well as the anatomical terminology that goes along with all that! FasciAshi sessions use overhead support bars as well as our proprietary Ashi-Strap to help regulate your pressure\, flow and balance while the client lies on a massage table. \n\n\nNo prerequisite needed – other than you MUST be a licensed massage therapist.

SUMMARY:SMRT Student Experience
DESCRIPTION:This 2-day SMRT experience will be all about practical application.  This “course” will be held on Saturday and Sunday.   On the first of the 2 days you will be paired with one SMRT student and one SMRT instructor or teaching assistant.  The 3 of you will do hour and a half tandem massage on each other throughout the day.  After a brief break\, we will have a 1 to 2 hour discussion where you will be able to ask any questions you may have or relay any experiences.  On the second of the 2 days you will be paired with a different SMRT student and a different SMRT instructor or teaching assistant\, and the 3 of you will do hour and a half tandems on each other. \nWhat you need to attend: \n\nyou must have either:\ntaken at least 2 3-day weekend courses\nstudied and practiced at least 2 of the SMRT basic series large video sets\n$350 in tuition\nthe ability to come to Aurora\n\nOther facts: \n\nonly 18 people will be able to attend\nFull Circle will provide all massage tables\nwe will begin working by 8:30 a.m. on Saturday\nwe will be done by 3:30 p.m. on Sunday\nThis course is NCBTMB approved for 12 CEs.
