Take steps that bring you closer to living a humble life.
It is in our journey toward humility we become closer to God. I discovered that when I gave up the things that served “me” I could begin to explore my blessings.
What are some examples of this?
- Cooking for your Family vs. Eating out – You have to work to cook and clean up, rather than sitting back and enjoying the instant gratification of a quick and easy meal.
- Buying second hand – Because everything is not “new” and eating off someone else’s plate is humbling.
- Music – Listen to music without words and feel the emotion behind the notes. Explore how it makes you feel and the relation it brings you within your own expression.
- T.V – Are we listening and watching things that bring us into the mindset of humility, or is it calling us into our ego?
- Friends– Are we with them because of how they serve us? Or how they serve God?
- Family – What do we feel entitled to receive from them, and how are we selfishly giving/taking?
I have to humble myself over and over again, knowing in life God has blessed me, but knowing we are blessed is a huge responsibility, and it means respecting and honoring it, by not taking it for a joy ride whenever we want.
It is about staying grateful for our suffering.
