Cancer Musings

By Shawn white

In our darkest hour of hurt we are often visited by the ghosts of the past. Old scars open as wounds, and though our body may be broken our spirit remains strong. No matter how hard the world smashes our soul, you will always have the power to be bold. You are strong, resilient, and capable of overcoming any obstacle. Throughout my cancer journey I experienced the blessings of many pains, some impossible to explain, but it taught me that in every second is an infinite snapshot of beauty. It showed me that life is magical, marvelous, and should be treasured and celebrated. These musings are reflections of the past, loving memories of tremendous times.

Cancer Musings

Book of Carcinoid Poem 1

Without apology I sing to you Without regret I move forward into life With life, I live, never to once again squander I sing to you tonight the tale of a hard time, a tale of a beautiful time, the tale of the Book of Carcinoid. This journey, this tale, has made me...

The Book of Carcinoid Poem 2

The Gargoyle beside oblivion 8/23/2016 It was a dark time, unlike anything. It was a place deep to the abyss of the sea. There were dark monsters and ghosts that surrounded me. I was alone and surrounded by shades I could feel their tendrils wrap around me and their...

THE BOOK OF CARCINOID POEM 3

My guardian Angel 8/23/16 She was my person, my champion, my guardian. She fed me, clothed me and stood against the forces of hell for me. She carried her rallying horn and built an army of angels to stand beside her, to protect me. She held my hand, laid beside me...

THE BOOK OF CARCINOID POEM 4

My Champion, my protector, my archon 8/23/16 He was a soft voice in the darkness, a man with a sweet smile. He told me stories and made me laugh. He held my hand as I cried. He held my hand as I screamed. He held my hand as he watched me in agony. He was my guardian...

THE BOOK OF CARCINOID POEM 5

The Angel and father of wisdom 8/23/2016 Heart pain dripped from my eye, a darkness wreathed me in its frigid grasp. Alone I was nothing, but among my angels I would strengthen My legs were weak and my eyes were clamped closed. The light of the afternoon sun burned in...

THE BOOK OF CARCINOID POEM 6

The Lady in the Isle of Hope 8/23/2016 I’ve never felt a connection so profound A heart power with so much pull An immortal love transcending time and space and spirit of man Lost in the sea of specters, she was my isle of hope. She held in her hand a glowing lantern,...

THE BOOK OF CARCINOID POEM 7

The Empty Hand 8/23/2016 It was early, the sun sat outside the tiny window beyond the reach of the bed.  The air was cold, but my hand was warm.  Warmed by the hand, the touch of one that was familiar. The time of the clock clicked seven and the hand...

Silly

Musings

By Shawn white

Sometimes we get lost in the second. The whirlwind of our world can be dizzying, and it may cause us to spin and fall. There is more to our existence than stress and sadness. Embrace the divine light of life with whimsy and wonder. These musings focus on the silliness of the second, and the magic of each moment. They exist to stimulate your spirit, to reconnect with your inner child, and feel wild!

Silly Musings
Know Your Inner Glow

Know your Inner Glow

What do people know about me? What do they know about you? Do you think some believe you have a screw or two loose? Do they know the secret behind the glue that makes you, you? Is their finger on your pulse, can they feel your heart, and when you speak do they hear...

Eat Waffles with Omerette Dire

How many waffles could Omerette Dire eat with a hungry tummy? Is it one more than one, a ton more than none, or simply a single slice? How many would she need to buy if she wanted to hire someone to help her eat more from time-to-time? If you were her, without the peg...

Even More Silliness

Bananas and old goats, three quarters you found in a moat, and musty flap jacks that were lost inside stacks of fancy magazines. These are the things that remind me of you because they were often glued to your shoe. Sometimes you would drink orange juice as you...

More Silliness

What is the threshold of having too many hats? Is it one if it is filled with already chewed chewing gum? Is it two if they are both in the shape of fancy running shoes? Is it three if they're hanging from the branches of someone's Christmas tree? Is it four if you...

Silliness to Lighten Your Day

If you had the goal of owning a bunch of wooden bowls how much lumber would it require to have your perfect number? Is it an amount that is more than anyone could ever count? Is it less than the volume inside a Vess can of cola? Or would it be as much as it would take...

Feline Fun

Everyone knows that cats like to eat snacks. They also love to jump and play and sing songs about the feline way. Little kitty cats love to lay in the sun and tease everyone with their soft tum-tums. They like to bite and scratch and zoom from here to there. A lot of...

Thomas Hat

Thomas Hat believes that it is more important to enjoy wearing our favorite hat, rather than where the hat takes us. "Never regret or feel bad about all the great times while wearing the hat. Instead remember those moments fondly, know the genuine hat-tasticly fun...

Snap jacks and little things

Snap jacks and little things filled with cracks. Bellows and rice cake shaped cellos. Berries and little bone shaped ice cream cones. And of course silliness galore. I want these things in my life. I want good things that are sweet and fun and encourage me to chew...

Skunky Pups

Skunky pups and buttery butts. Little fleas riding on the backs of bees. Candy bars filled with banana meat and the letter three. These are the things I think about when I'm opening a can of peas. When I see them combined it helps me feel free. They encourage me to...

Fish Sticks and jellybeans

Fish sticks and jellybeans, old hats and little snacks, but especially butterflies and old mulch go great inside a QT big gulp. I try to live my life in silly ways, because there is too much darkness and strife in our daily lives. I am a character to many, a...

Reflective

Musings

By Shawn white

Life is a wheel that rolls, sometimes it gets out of control. Each experience is an opportunity to learn from the past, and these hardships serve as the most valuable class. They teach us what to avoid, how to navigate harsh highways, and celebrate our seconds with special people who cross our path. These musings focus on the reflections of who we once were, and the person we have chosen to become.

Reflective Musings

Deep Reflections of the Past

This afternoon I revisited a deep reflective inspiration. It was from a time when I was relearning how to breathe. When I hurt it is my policy to transcribe the experience into a poem or piece of literature that may help others cope in their complicated moments. Here...

Reflections for the Future

This evening I found a few reflections from when I was adventuring through chemotherapy. It was an interesting series of words, each sentence pulled me forward as the paragraphs painted an image of where I once was. My reflection read: "I live in a quasi-state of not...

Sometimes we need the Spark

Sometimes we need the spark of life to reignite our ignition. We need a reason to turn the key and drive forward. Our vehicle on the road of life may be insured, in good repair and ready with a full tank of gas, but if we believe we have nowhere to go, we often sit...

Clear the Air

Clear the air, open your soul zones and dance to your favorite song. Give in to the moment, sing, and set your spirit free. Pull your feet from the muck and mud, wipe the dirt from your eyes and witness the wonder of the world. Magic is in every sight you see, from...

My Journey with these Two Trees

My journey with these two trees was a delightful adventure. I mixed old techniques with some watercolor painting action. It turned out how I wanted. This story is a beautiful tale, it is the relationship between the masculine and feminine, man and woman, and how we...

This wasn’t at all what it was supposed to be

This wasn't at all what it was supposed to be. I had big plans, it was going to have beautiful fruit, and lush green leaves. As I explored its road the fruit had no place in its journey. Unfortunately their memory could not simply be destroyed. I had to find ways to...

the expedition of life

What does it take to embark on the expedition of life?  Can we navigate the treacherous jungle without experiencing strife?  Can we fly above the treetops to escape the agony of the day? No matter what we do mosquitoes will torment us on hot and humid...
