The world is a beautiful place, with so much awe and wonder it is simply magical.  Life is a blessing, an experience to be treasured and adored, from our moments of pure joy to those of absolute terror.  It is more than sunshine and smiles, more than frowns and tears, it is all that and everything in between.

As we move through life we face one challenge after the next; sometimes these challenges become horrible hardships and we forget the beauty, awe, and wonder of the world.  It is in these moments we lose hope; the magic ceases and we begin to believe life is a curse.  When this negativity saturates our existence, the mention of hope instills fear, anxiety, and guilt.

We need Hope, we need this cute little mouse to remind us that good is great!  We need her to remind us we can make something good out of something bad, no matter how awful our challenges may be.

Hope is our ally, our friend and inspiration, let her inspire us to embrace the gooey, golden light of life.

History doesn’t show us how to navigate the future, instead it reveals how others have fallen.  Listening to the wisdom of old allows us to watch where we are placing our feet, inspires us to build something to help us see, and teaches us how to become free.

In recent generations we have not been granted the tools of those who came before us.  We have no guiding light, we are lost, alone and without a guide.  It is not fair, but life isn’t fair.  To take control of your destiny you must let go of how you feel about fairness, and work with the realities you have.  Sitting in the sloppy pool of your own emotions will leave you fraught with frenzied feelings.  Stand up, look at yourself and find out why your eyes want to cry.  Open your chest and look at your heart, build a friendship with your past and step away from the murky waters that are hurting you.  Investigate your reality and learn how to love it.

Life hurts, this is something I intimately know, but suffering ends when you give purpose to the pain.  Every hurt we have is an opportunity to learn how to help someone else.  Our dark spots are bridges in life.  God gave them to us so we can connect with the magic of the universe, and to help the people who feel blinded by the bad.  Our lives were never meant to be sunshine and smiles every second of the day.  We strive to experience happiness far too often, and this is unhealthy.  Happiness is the candy sprinkles on a delicious donut.  Life is a scrumptious, jelly filled pastry with enough reward to satisfy your soul.  Peace is what you need, and it is achieved through harmony.

Our wellness journey is often painful, and sometimes it makes us feel hopeless, but these are illusions.  They are hallucinations that distract us, leading our spirit to forget what hope is.  It isn’t knowing you will survive, none of us will.  Hope is making the most of our moments, living life in the second and celebrating the infinite beauty of existence.

Like a mouse, hope is cute, fragile, and harmless.  We are afraid of it the same way we fear mice.  If we take the time to develop a relationship with hope, we will learn there is nothing to be afraid of and everything to gain.  Hope isn’t tangible, but she can be lost.  When we suffer through illness and pain, we lose sight of this magical mouse and our ability to explore, experience and enjoy the things we adore.  Hope teaches us every hurt we feel is an opportunity to learn how to help others.

In my cancer journey I experienced countless instances of loss and disappointment.  It was hard holding onto hope and many times, she would slip between my fingers, leaving me alone and afraid.  I learned to navigate these dark times by managing my passion, grit, and persistence.  If you want to become the healthiest version of yourself you must become your own advocate, strive to be strong at your weakest point and become your own inspiration.
