The sum of our existence should not be defined by a few bad decisions. No one should be denied the opportunity to experience redemption or to miss out on learning from their mistakes. We shouldn’t have our humanity stolen from us, especially over trivial transgressions.
Unfortunately our society doesn’t agree. They allow their eyes to be blinded by the muck and the mud as they recklessly destroy others for seemingly insignificant slights.
Life hurts, it can be difficult to wipe our eyes after so many have tortured our soul. When the wound heals we are left with so many scars it is hard to let go. But there is a truth you must know, the terrible atrocities and hardships you have faced do not define you. Every scar, scrape and bruise are gifts. They are blessings granted to us so we may achieve great things. Every hurt we feel is an opportunity to learn how to help others.
I have known horrors beyond imagination, and they have crippled me in unfortunate ways. It is easy to get caught up in the pain and fear. I live in constant discomfort, and I often trouble myself with the haunting reality of my inevitable end. It took time, but once I began to forgive I realized cancer was the greatest gift ever granted to me.
For many years I was nothing more than my horrors. I couldn’t escape them; the strength of my monsters were so profound they ate the entirety of my identity. In many ways it made me intolerable, these ideas were all I could think about. This darkness wrapped me in a shroud of death and all my friends could feel it. Living this way was a burden beyond belief, it wrecked my world and dimmed my divine light. This shadow stole my ability to fight the demons deep in my soul, and the longer I remained with them the more difficult it became to let them go.
We are more than our pain, more than the sum of every mistake, we are great and powerful and able to show others the way. The universe has opened a gate, now we must hold our lanterns high and illuminate every shadowy place. We will help others witness the wonder of the world and live with harmony. We will give more than was granted to us and help others through this daunting time. While the worst of the world encourages everyone to attack, we will forgive, and life will become something we all want to live.
